Truly Kaput and the Chambermaids playing at Kill The Pets, January 2005
I've been playing drums since I was 13. I was very fortunate to get a drumkit through a combination of birthday and Christmas presents and lots of saving. As a sullen young thing (which I sadly was in those years) I would go out and bang away for hours; sometimes learning as much as I could from tapes of bands whose drummers I liked, but more often than not finding comfort in the rhythm and the ability to smash away at something as hard as I wanted to, whilst still creating something.
Truly KaputSadly, when I moved to London I wasn't able to bring my kit and for about 13 years was drum-less until I met the fabulous and wonderful Truly Kaput (otherwise known as my friend Joan). She heard I could play and asked if I would play on a few tracks for a do-it-yourself EP she was putting together (available through Homocrime) and accompany her at a few live shows. We did both and had a blast and have continued on from there. I appear on Truly Kaput's debut full length record on Irrk Records not only as a drummer, but also as a singer and a songwriter (two things I never, ever, believed I had any ability to do). You should be able to buy the new album from the Irrk Records website.

The ChambermaidsAs a result of playing with Truly Kaput at Trashville's Lo-fi Lounge a few times and accompanying other bands there, I was brought onboard there as the official House-band. I have called myself "The Chambermaids" and if you came along (see Live! for details) you would have seen me play and sing on my own, with guests and some of the other artists playing on the same nights. In 2005 I played solo as The Chambermaids at Truck Festival and at Club Attitude Wotever.

This lead to the construction of a new (fledgling project with Grae and the lovely Thomas - occasionally known as Tom of Totenham)...
That, Madam "That, Madam" is the working title for the new project that I am working on with Grae and Thomas. We performed at the Wotever Music Xtravaganza in 2006, for the first time doing more than the usual Brel and Truly Kaput covers and actually tried some original material (some of which I actually wrote). It went very well and we had a great time. We are hoping to do more in the future so check back for details.
